Article (grammar) is a type of determiner used with a noun or noun phrase to indicate whether the noun refers to something specific, identifiable, or nonspecific.

Articles are commonly divided into definite articles and indefinite articles. In English, the is the definite article, while a and an are indefinite articles. Some languages also have grammatical systems with different or additional types of articles.
