Philosophy is the systematic study of fundamental questions concerning existence, knowledge, truth, ethics, reasoning, mind, and reality. It uses critical thinking, logical analysis, argument, and reflection to examine questions that may not have straightforward empirical answers.

Major branches of philosophy include metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic, and aesthetics. Philosophical traditions have developed across many cultures, including Ancient Greek philosophy, Indian philosophy, Chinese philosophy, Islamic philosophy, and Western philosophy.
