Encyclopædia Britannica is a general-knowledge encyclopedia that was first published in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1768. It is one of the oldest continuously published encyclopedias in the English language.

The encyclopedia contains articles covering subjects such as history, science, geography, literature, arts, and culture. It was published in print for many years and is now primarily available as an online reference work.
